Kelsey was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia and moved to Charleston a little over a year ago! I began playing field hockey about 16 years ago, in the 2nd grade, and immediately fell in love with the sport—going on to play throughout elementary, middle, high school, with both school and travel teams, before going on to play at the collegiate level with a Division 1 program at UVA. I am forever grateful for the sport of field hockey, as it has greatly shaped the person I am today, having taught me valuable life skills—such as accountability, teamwork, confidence, and communication to name a few—and brought me lifelong friends. I am ecstatic to continue to grow the game in CHS, and further your daughters’ skill sets!

Born and raised in Connecticut, field hockey came into my life at the end of 6th grade. After becoming immediately drawn to the sport, I knew it would be something that would be in my future for a long time. While making a good run for the state championship a few times, I had the honor of being the captain of my high school team my senior year after spending all 4 years on the Varsity squad. Ready to head to warmer weather, I went on to get my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with minors and marketing and sales at High Point University in North Carolina. I played all four years on the club field hockey team where we qualified for the national tournament in Virginia Beach twice and got to play club teams such as Duke University, UNC, Wake Forest and many others throughout the years. Following college, I had the opportunity to coach a JV high school team in Boston for a few seasons. I know as soon as I made the move to Charleston in 2022 I needed to find a league to keep the love of the game going. It’s been such an honor and a pleasure to show this amazing game to the youth in the low country and I’m looking forward to continuing the journey!

  • Katie B

Katie originally hails from New Jersey where she followed in her two older sisters’ footsteps and started playing field hockey in middle school. While in high school, Katie ran track and played field hockey all four years. She was a member of the school’s varsity team that won a 2006 NJ Sectional Championship her senior year. When it came time for college Katie had her eyes set on the south and headed to Coastal Carolina University. During her junior year she, together with a close friend, took initiative about the lack of field hockey in the area and created the University’s intermural club field hockey team. Together they helped build a club that competes across the south and participates in national tournaments to this day. In 2015 Katie’s love of sports and volunteering came together when she accepted the opportunity to coach a youth recreational soccer team in Myrtle Beach. This was her introduction to coaching kids, and she was completely hooked! Katie relocated to Charleston in 2017 and a year later found herself googling ‘field hockey in Charleston’ which led her to finding the Charleston Field Hockey Club. She is beyond excited to be a member of an organization whose mission is to grow field hockey in the Lowcountry and empower the next generation all while having fun the entire way!

I'm originally from Milford, PA but I have been in Charleston since 2009. I hold my master's degree in interior architecture and design and work within the construction field. I played field hockey in middle school, high school, and some pickup games throughout college. Field hockey has always been special to me, from team building to feeling proud and confident, to making new friends and connections who think similarly. I'm excited to be a part of Charleston Field Hockey and share this fun and exciting sport with all of you!
